Our first plant sale fundraiser on the 2nd of May was a huge success, despite the weather being against us. Originally, we all agreed we'd be happy if we made anywhere close to £500, a big goal for our first community event, where we invited parents from the school and members of the local community.
However, we completly smashed it, raising just over £830! Incredible when you think we sold seedlings and small plants for a couple of quid each. There was such a good atmosphere on the school playground; the senior student team turned up to help out, as well as members of the Parent's Association and even the Mayor of Cuckfield.
A huge thanks goes out to everyone who baked cakes, sowed seeds, potted on small plants, directed traffic, counted coins and generally helped out on the day. We'd love to make this an annual event, and already have big plans for next year, including propagating shrubs and perennial flowers so there'll be even more on offer.
We still have a great many seedlings left, of both vegetables and flowers. If you missed out on the day, send us a message and come down on the weekend, we still have lots for sale!
Other projects in the garden include: completing the fence around the Forest School area, planting out some of the runner beans, squash, courgettes, tomatoes and salads, building raised beds in the poly tunnel and planting hedging. We've always got projects on the go! So if you'd like to get involved, even for just a couple of hours on a weekend, get in touch.
